ABOUT ME

I have experience working with clients from 5 to 85 years old. I believe that whatever our age, we all seek to be listened to, to be understood and to share our lives in relationship with others. We can be hurt in relationship when we feel misunderstood and our needs have not been met – also we can have deep regrets when important relationships become difficult or come to an end. The therapeutic relationship, between client and counsellor, between you and me, is a place where healing and strengthening can take place.

At our first session we can explore what you are struggling with at the moment and what it is that you are wanting from therapy. Through careful listening and discernment, we will be able to set some goals to work on and develop an understanding about what changes you would like to make. Whatever happens in the rest of our sessions will emerge from what you bring to each session. Together we can process your unique struggles in a non-judgemental space and through this begin to help you to understand and validate your feelings, assert your needs, clarify your choices and decide on new ways to move forward that feel right for you.
We may work together factually and directly; we may also work through story or metaphor; we make work creatively staying with the unknown and the unspoken, we may use EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) to process traumatic memories in a very natural way.
